ProfessionalEver since I was a child, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. I was fortunate to have wonderful teachers as a child, and as I grew older, to have many great experiences with younger cousins and younger children in my neighborhood. This solidified my desire to go into the education field. When it came time to choose a college, Michigan State University was an easy choice for me because it has a great Elementary Education program. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and concentrations in math and Spanish. I also have a master's degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. After completing a year-long student teaching internship in a third grade classroom in 2016, I landed a job as a middle school math teacher at MacDonald Middle School in East Lansing and have been there ever since. I love engaging my students in collaborative problem-solving and helping them grow as mathematical learners. I also enjoy co-chairing the mathematics department and leading technology initiatives at my school. If you would like to know more about my career, please go to my resumé.

PersonalI grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and I love being able to visit my parents and younger brother frequently. I got married in 2017 and currently live near the Lansing, Michigan area with my husband, John. My husband and I enjoy playing board games, reading books, watching TV shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and traveling together. In the summer of 2019, we spent our second anniversary visiting his family in the Philippines and China, but we have also traveled to Pictured Rocks, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. In the future, I hope to take him to Europe, where I studied abroad in college. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering for various children's ministries at my church, making jigsaw puzzles, talking to my friends who have moved all over the country, and watching ice hockey, a sport that I played while growing up.
